There are certain people one should not mess with, Madeline is one of those people. A loyal friend to a fault she will fight for you, die for you and kill for  you. Her parents are rock and roll burnouts whose careers were ruined when they were busted and jailed for drug possession when she was five. She has never forgotten and hates authority with an unrivaled intensity. The only things bigger than Madeline's attitude problem is her talent and ambition to pick up where her parents left off and become a famous rock star. The years her parents spent in jail left the family financially destitute in the upper middle-class town and their ramshackle house is the great shame of the neighborhood. Her parents, still in love and high as a kite don't seem to notice how messed up their life is, so neither does Madeline. But Madeline is not an only child, she has an older sister named Caroline who is away at college on scholarships. She was Dean Argo's pet back in the day so now the two girls hate eachother.
